HALLOWEEN!!
Una de mis fiestas preferidas del año. Halloween. Donde nos reunimos todos lo amigos, nos disfrazamos y nos lo pasamos en grande. Pero no solo celebramos Halloween. En Cataluña, hay una fiesta y tradición popular. La Castañada. En La Castañada hay una viejita (La Castañera) que cocina castañas y las vende. Hasta hay una canción típica que se canta siempre (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sshpaehePcs). Pero no sólo comemos castañas. También comemos Panellets (¡deliciosos!), Moniatos y Fruta Confitada.
One of my favorite holidays of the year. Halloween. Where all the friends meet, we dress and we have a great time. But not only we celebrate Halloween. In Catalonia, there is a party and popular tradition. The Castanyada. In The Castanyada there's a little old lady (The Castanyera) cooking chestnuts and selling them. There's also a typical song that's always sung (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sshpaehePcs). But not only we eat chestnuts. We also eat Panellets (delicious!), Sweet Potatoes and Candied Fruit.
Para empezar a contaros mi Halloween/Castañada de este año, empezaré por el Viernes:
To begin to tell you my Halloween/Castanyada this year, I'll start on Friday:
VIERNES TARDE
Cada año, en mi colegio, a los alumnos de 4º de ESO les toca preparar una obra de teatro de cuentos infantiles y representarla a los alumnos de la escuela más pequeños (desde Infantil hasta 6º de Primaria). Como este año yo estoy en 4º de ESO me ha tocado hacer la Caperucita Roja a los pequeños del cole (3-4 años). Y yo he hecho de Caperucita. Fue genial. Después de 2 semanas de ensayos y preparación de los decorados, la actuación nos salió redonda y los niños quedaron encantados. Pasamos la tarde con ellos, ayudando a las profesoras de que no se descontrolaran durante la celebración de la 50 Castañada de la escuela (la escuela este curso hace 50 años).
FRIDAY AFTERNOON
SABADO MAÑANA
Me levanté temprano para empezar a preparar el disfraz para la noche, ya que pasarís el día en Barcelona con la familia. Lo peor de este finde: con dolor de cuello, super afónica y constipada :( . A la hora de comer me vinieron a buscar para ir a comer a casa los abuelos y así después marchar directamente a la fiesta de cumple de mi primo pequeño (hacía 6 añitos).
SATURDAY MORNING
I woke up early to start preparing the costume for the night, because I spent the day with family in Barcelona. The worst thing about this weekend: with neck pain, super hoarse and constipated :( . At lunchtime, came to get me to go have lunch at the grandparents' so we could go directly to the birthday party of my little cousin (he celebrate his 6 years).
SABADO NOCHE
Llegué a casa justita para la quedada. Tenía poco tiempo y lo hice todo con prisas. ¿Mi disfraz? Uno de mis personajes preferidos de Harry Potter y una de mis actrices favoritas. Bellatrix Lestrange, protagonizada por Helena Bonham Carter. Tenía la peluca, el disfraz, el tutorial de maquillaje (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JviwJqIl31U) y la varita. ¡Preparada! Marché con los amigos (Jenny, Marilina, Julia, Mariona, Judit, Alba, Nerea, Dani y los hermanos/as y padres de todos) y fuimos andando hasta el Restaurante Sant Jaume, donde cenamos, hablamos, bailamos, nos hicimos fotos y estuvimos hasta la 1am. ¡Fue una gran noche y disfruté mucho!
SATURDAY NIGHT
I got home very late. I had not time and I did everything in a hurry. My costume? One of my favorite characters from Harry Potter and one of my favorite actresses. Bellatrix Lestrange, starring Helena Bonham Carter. I had the wig, costume, makeup tutorial (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JviwJqIl31U) and wand. Prepared! I met with friends (Jenny, Marilina, Julia, Mariona, Judit, Alba, Nerea, Dani and brothers/sisters and parents of all of u) and walked to the Sant Jaume Restaurant, where we had dinner, talked, danced, took selfies and stayed until 1am. It was a great night and I really enjoyed it!
LUNES
Hoy no tengo clase, así que he aprovechado y he hecho Panellets (os dejaré la receta en otra entrada) y he tallado mi calabaza, (se que es un poco tarde, pero no he tenido tiempo de hacerlo y me hacía mucha ilusión) a la que he llamado Jack (por la peli Pesadilla antes de Navidad). ¡Decid hola a Jack! (¡estoy fatal...!)
MONDAY
Today I don't have class, so I took advantage and I cooked Panellets (I'll leave the recipe in another post) and I carved my pumpkin (it's a little late, but I had no time to do it and I was excited) who I've named Jack (from the movie Nightmare Before Christmas). Say hello to Jack! (I'm crazy...!)

FRIDAY AFTERNOON
Every year at my school, the students of 4th ESO (10th grade) have to prepare a play of popular stories and represent them to the younger students (from kindergarten to 6th grade). As this year I am in 4th, I have had to represent the Little Red Riding Hood to the little ones from the school (3-4 years). And I was Little Red Riding Hood. It was awesome. After two weeks of practise and preparation of the set, the performance went perfect and the children were delighted. We spent the afternoon with them, helping the teachers that they didn't get out of control during the celebration of the 50 Castanyada of the school (the school this course "turnes" 50).
