Trip #2
Como os prometí, aquí va la segunda parte de mi viaje a el Reino Unido. Como recordaréis (y sino yo os lo recuerdo), fui a Edimburgo.
DÍA 1
Llegamos al aeropuerto de Edimburgo a las 10am (aproximadamente) y cogemos un autobús para ir al centro (tenemos suerte y hay una parada de autobús al final de la calle de el apartamento que hemos alquilado). Al entrar por la puerta de el apartamento (también es un "sotano" como el de Londres, pero MUCHO más grande), nos quedamos asombrados: 3 habitaciones (una para cada uno) con cama de matrimonio, 2 baños (uno integrado en MI habitación), cocina de tipo abierto (con todo lo necesario y más) y sala de estar-comedor amplio (con un sofá y una butaca, un escritorio, mesa para comer, televisión con DVD, chimenea y librería con una ampla colección de DVD y libros). ¡Todo PERFECTO!
Por la tarde vamos a dar un paseo por el parque The Meadows (¡tiene un campo de golf!) y paramos por un Starbucks para repostar.
DAY 1
We arrive at the Edinburgh Airport at 10am (approximately) and take a bus to downtown (we are lucky and there's a bus stop down the street from the apartment we've rented). As you enter through the door of the apartment (it is also a "basement" like in London, but much bigger), we were astonished: 3 bedrooms (one for each other) with double bed, 2 bathrooms (one in MY room), open-style kitchen (with everything you need and more) and living-dining room (with a couch and an armchair, a desk, dining table, TV with DVD, fireplace and library with a huge collection of DVD and books). All PERFECT!
In the afternoon we go for a walk to The Meadows park (it has a golf course!) And stopped by Starbucks to refuel.
DÍA 2
Nos levantamos temprano para poder aprovechar el día, empezando por el Edinburgh Castle (Castillo de Edinburgo). Unas vistas preciosas desde allí arriba y he aprendido mucha historia que no conocía. Al terminar la visita, paseamos por el centro y comemos en un Pret a Manger (¡DELICIOSO!). Después de comer compramos unos macarones y unos brownies en una pastelería monísima y nos los comemos de postre (¡DELICIOSO también!). Cogemos un autobús y nos dirigimos al Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art (Museo Nacional Escocés de Arte Moderno). Al terminar la visita volvemos andando hasta el apartamento.
DAY 2
We got up early to seize the day, starting with the Edinburgh Castle. Lovely views from up there and I've learned a lot of history I didn't know. After the visit, we walk through the center and eat in Pret a Manger (delicious!). After lunch we buy some macaroons and brownies in a very cute bakery and eat them as dessert (delicious too!). We take a bus and head to the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art. After the visit we return walking to the apartment.
DÍA 3
Nos levantamos no tan temprano y cogemos un autobús dirección a Leith (barrio de Edinburgo). Nos bajamos frente al Parlamento y entramos para visitarlo (al menos la parte abierta al público). Al terminar la visita, cruzamos unas calles y llegamos al Palacio de Hollyroodhouse (casa oficial de Su Majestad la Reina Isabel II en Escocia). Compramos las entradas (con audioguia de regalo) y visitamos el palacio. Me fascinan las enormes salas y las historias que han ocurrido en ellas. Al finalizar la visita, cogemos un autobús y nos dirigimos a Leith, donde comemos y paseamos hasta un centro comercial, donde cogemos un autobús de vuelta.
DAY 3
We get up not so early and take a bus to Leith (Edinburgh neighborhood). We get off in front of the Parliament and visit it (at least the part open to the public). After the visit, we cross a few streets and arrive at Hollyroodhouse Palace (official home of Her Majesty the Queen Elizabeth II in Scotland). We buy tickets (with free audioguide) and visit the palace. I'm fascinated by the huge halls and stories that have happened in there. After the visit, we take a bus and head to Leith, where we eat and walk to a mall, where we take a bus back.
DÍA 4
Nos levantamos temprano (ya que es el último día) y empezamos un día de museos y compras comprando en una tienda vintage cerca de el apartamento un "cuadro" (si se le puede llamar así) de el andén 9 y 3/4 (de las películas de Harry Potter). Acto seguido, nos dirigimos al Scottish National Gallery (Museo Escocés Nacional). Terminada la visita, paramos en una tienda de DVD (donde mi hermano se compra un par de películas) y yo compro un regalo de cumpleaños para una amiga. Visitamos el Scottish National Portrait Gallery (Museo Escocés National de Retratos). Después de comer, visitamos varias tiendas locales donde me compro una falda y una bufanda escocesas. Al ir a coger el autobús pasamos por una calle llena de artistas locales que hacen espectáculos (un chico haciendo cuadros con grafitti me maravilló). Por la noche lo recogemos todo y nos vamos a la cama temprano.
DAY 4
We get up early (as it's the last day) and begin a day of museums and shopping buying in a vintage store near the apartment a "frame" (if you can call it that) of the Platform 9 3/4 (of the Harry Potter movies). Then, we head to the Scottish National Gallery. After the visit, we stop in a DVD store (where my brother buys a couple of movies) and I buy a birthday present for a friend. We visit the Scottish National Portrait Gallery. After lunch, we visit several local shops where I buy a Scottish skirt and scarf. When going to catch the bus, we go through a street full of local artists who make shows (a guy doing paintings with graffiti amazed me). At night we pick up everything and go to bed early.
DÍA 5
Nos levantamos a las 5am para coger un autobús hacía el aeropuerto, ya que tenemos el vuelo a las 7am. Llegamos al aeropuerto de Stansted a las 9am y damos vueltas por el aeropuerto (mirando tiendas, leyendo, escuchando música, durmiendo...) porque el vuelo de vuelta a casa no es hasta las 4pm. A la hora de embarcar, subimos al avión y nos despedimos de el maravilloso Reino Unido (donde volveré el año que viene con el instituto). Llegamos a casa a las 10pm, deshago las maletas y me relajo.
DAY 5
We get up at 5am to catch a bus to the airport as our flight is at 7am. We arrive at Stansted Airport at 9am and we get bored in the airport (window shopping, reading, listening music, sleeping...) because the flight to home is not until 4pm. When is time to board, we said goodbye to the wonderful UK (where I will be back next year with the high school). We arrive home at 10pm, unpack and relax.
Bueno... Este ha sido mi VIAJE de este año. Espero no haberos aburrido demasiado y, como habréis visto... SI. ¡Soy una SÚPER FAN de Harry Potter!
